8 Job Search Apps to Accelerate Your Search

Like most job hunters, you probably are using mobile apps in your search. They offer quick access to open positions, information about employers, and insight into company culture. But did you know that there are apps tailored to the type of work you want? Here are eight examples.

1. Facebook Jobs

Facebook Jobs lets you apply for work through a mini summary of yourself based on your profile. When you find a job opening you want to apply for, hit Apply Now to view the company’s Facebook page. Tap Apply Now again to see a prepopulated application with information you made publicly available on your page. Tap Send to provide your application as a Facebook message.

2. LinkedIn Job Search

LinkedIn Job Search lets recruiters know that you are searching for a position. The job listing page uses your work experience listed on your profile to show roles you may be interested in and companies where you have connections. Check a box under the Update Preferences tab to type an introduction of up to 300 characters highlighting the role you want.

3. Glassdoor

Glassdoor lets you apply for jobs and research potential employers. Besides finding positions based on your targeted characteristics, the site also provides company reviews by current and former employees, company information, and how the business ranks based on employee benefits. Plus, you can determine the look and feel of the work environment and gain additional insight into what the organization is truly like.

4. Indeed Job Search

Indeed Job Search displays openings from job boards, classified ads, associations, and company pages. You can set up email alerts for when new roles open up in a category, save a job posting to apply later, email your cover letter and resume, and keep track of the positions you apply for.

5. Snagajob

Snagajob focuses on connecting you with local, hourly jobs such as cashier, delivery driver, restaurant greeter, or security guard. Along with applying for roles either through the app or on the company website, you can have Daily Job Matches sent to you.

6. JobR

JobR is owned by Monster. Simply set up your profile, upload your resume, and set your criteria to begin your job search. Swipe left to dismiss a role and right to apply. There is a virtual career concierge to answer your questions and help you navigate.

7. ZipRecruiter Job Search

ZipRecruiter Job Search offers flexible types of work from over 100 job boards. Simply complete your profile, upload your resume and cover letter, and email them to employers. Plus, you can enter a database where hiring managers and recruiters can contact you for an interview.

8. LinkUp

LinkUp displays openings listed on company websites. Because these employers do not list their postings with search engines, you gain access to the hidden job market. The site is updated daily and contains millions of jobs.
