Bring Your Staff Together This Holiday Season! 5 Ways to Boost Employee Morale

The holidays are a perfect time for connection. Participating in end-of-year gatherings, spending time with family and friends, and having a new year to look forward to adding to the excitement of the season. This is why you should organize activities that bring your HR team together. You can help them make memories while enjoying shared activities.

Here are five ways you can boost your HR team’s morale this holiday season.

1. Bring in Essential Oils with Holiday Scents

Your staff likely would enjoy having essential oils with holiday scents diffused around the office. Cinnamon, peppermint, and pine trees are among the most impactful scents that remind people of their childhood. These scents also provide health benefits. For instance, cinnamon can increase concentration and reduce drowsiness, irritability, and the frequency of headaches. Also, peppermint oil can increase concentration and reduce mental fatigue and stress. Plus, the scent of pine trees can stimulate the mind and body, increase energy levels, and reduce depression.

2. Gift Your Staff Gourmet Coffee or Tea

The majority of your team likely drinks at least one cup of coffee or tea a day. You may want to treat them to gourmet or seasonal blends of coffee or tea for the holiday season. Your team members might enjoy gingerbread, maple syrup, or cinnamon-flavored coffee. Or, you could provide chocolate peppermint, spiced apple cider, or pumpkin spiced tea. Your team should be more focused, productive, and social while drinking their beverages.

3. Hand Out Gift Cards

Spend a little extra on gift cards that your team members will enjoy. The gift cards may be for groceries, spa services, or a favorite restaurant. Make sure each gift is in line with your employee’s unique interests.

4. Organize a Holiday Office Event

Encourage your employees to see who the best baker, cook, or craft maker is. For instance, host an afternoon “Holiday Break” where everyone can enter their favorite holiday sweets. Staff can bring in their favorite cookies, pies, gingerbread, or other homemade desserts. Each employee can vote on their favorites. The top 3 vote-getters win a prize and trophy and bragging rights until next year’s event.

5. Donate to a Nonprofit Organization

Encourage your staff to choose a charity they want to donate their time or money to. There are plenty of families and organizations in need during the holidays. They may want donations of toys, canned food, or holiday cards for seniors or veterans. Decide which mission your team wants to support, then set up a time to help out.
