How Offering Updated Benefits Can Lead to More Candidates

Like many companies, yours may be struggling to find qualified candidates to fill your job openings. If this is the case, you may want to reevaluate the benefits you offer. Most job seekers are looking for certain benefits when deciding where to apply for work. Offering what candidates want can mean the difference between hiring the top applicants or having them work for your competitors.

Offering any of the following benefits can increase the number of applicants you have for your open roles.

Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance

The majority of candidates want health, dental, and vision insurance for themselves and their families. Because costs in these areas continue to increase, job seekers want help covering their expenses. Even having employers cover a portion of the premiums can make the expenses more manageable.

Retirement Plan

Because the cost of living continues to go up, most job seekers want a retirement plan at work. This is especially desirable if an employer provides a match for employee contributions. A popular option is to match dollar for dollar the first 3% of an employee’s salary and 50 cents on the dollar for the next 2%. This provides both the employee and company tax breaks whenever a contribution is made.

Group Life Insurance

Almost all candidates look for employers who offer group life insurance policies. This lets job seekers know their families will gain access to funds in case the worker passes away. Group life insurance is a highly cost-effective way to attract job seekers. The employer-paid premiums tend to be low compared to the face value of the policy.

Wellness Programs

Because employee well-being has become more important than ever, your company should offer programs that prioritize wellness. This may include reimbursement for yoga classes, gym memberships, or other workout programs. Or, it could involve the use of apps for meditation, stress reduction, or enhanced sleep.
